The Pennsylvania Economy League presents the findings of its new report – “Communities in Crisis: The Truth and Consequences of Municipal Fiscal Distress in Pennsylvania, 1970 to 2014”

Which municipalities and regions are the most distressed? Which municipalities and regions are the healthiest? Why is Pennsylvania’s local government system broken and what is the state’s role in fixing it?

Findings will be presented for Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties, the Northeast Region and Statewide.

PEL’s report was funded by a statewide coalition of 11 community foundations  — including the Luzerne Foundation and the Scranton Area Community Foundation — that are concerned about the plight of fiscally challenged communities
